I was trying to figure out something about Cub Kingdoms so I ended up looking at my wallet address on BSC Explorer recently. That's when I noticed that I had a lot of new airdropped coins in there. Exciting!
I went to check out the valuations of some of these coins on CMC:
5,000 ALICE tokens airdropped at $11.50 each? That's $57,500!
Well, as the old saying goes, if it is too good to be true, it probably is. Here's how the scam works in general. There are a couple of variations with some being more sinister than others.
The most simple one involves going to the site to claim the tokens. You're then prompted to transfer some token, usually BNB, as a fee to unlock the airdropped tokens. A simple con and usually the damage is in the hundreds of dollars.
More nefarious is that when you log on to the scam website to claim your tokens, you might be asked to give away your seed phrase or approve a contract. This is way more dangerous than simply transferring some BNB as you could end up losing your entire wallet.
