It has definitely been a while since I last posted here. Real life has been demanding lately and therefore I had to put my focus on it. But hopefully I will return back to article writing soon. This post will be different from what I usually publish on my blog, but hopefully my followers won't be upset. A few months ago I introduced my father to Steemit. At first it was a bit difficult for him to grasp all the details about the blockchain, cryptocurrencies etc. But the amateur artist inside him was drawn to the Steemit logo. He liked its simplicity and design, he was intrigued by the concept of Steemit being a 'new project' and combined with the little he understood about minnows and whales, he was inspired to dedicate his new art project to the Steemit platform. The following article is a quick photographic journey through the creation of the Steemit Mosaic.
THE FIRST STEPS - Autumn 2016
The first design was drawn by pencil on a large piece of wood. The Steemit logo was put inside a circle which would later become the ''sun'' during the sunrise, symbolizing the new promising beginning of Steemit. The fisherman (Steemit creators) is ''fishing'' the components of Steemit to represent how the platform is being build slowly, step by step. The components are being provided by a Mermaid, who represents the enthusiasm and joy behind every new beginning.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
The first stones were placed in late Auturm/early Winter 2016. He used a combination of ceramic and glass components, which he cut by hand. At first he chose two orcas for whales, but as you will see, later on during the project he removed them.

You can see the progress of the mosaic through a couple of weeks and how the whales were removed in the second picture.
