Football in England will never stop coming up with surprises. First it was with Arsenal against Brentford and now it's Tottenham over Manchester City. Well, I would consider the fact that the winning teams were trying to defend their homes.
I was a bit scared for Tottenham few minutes before the match when I saw the lineup and realized that Kane was never available. I read the news that he has not been available for training and I still decided to have him alongside Son in my FPL Team and that has affected me so much this weekend already.
We all expected the absence of Kane to affect Tottenham so much today but it truly did affected them because with what I watched, if only they had Kane today, it could have been a win with more goals for them but on the real hand, Son is a deity in Tottenham!
I've always been a fan of Nuno right from his first season in the EPL with Wolves and I never thought he could make it to another strong team such as Tottenham in the EPL and so I was so happy for him when he was announced as the new manager for Tottenham.
How far can Nuno go with Tottenham?
Nuno is good Manager no doubt but I personally think if he wants to prove any point in Tottenham he needs to keep Kane by all means and he need more signings to solidify the team's depth.
It seems like the duo thing isn't about Son and Kane, it seems to me like Son can easily link up so fast with any agile playmaker of finisher. His relationship with Lucas in today's match was really strong and spectacular.
Maybe it's age or something I don't know of. I don't really know why Lucas doesn't really get much play time at Spurs and I really do love this guy! He's good and not just good, he's a fine coordinator within the 8 and 10 positions on the pitch. I guess he'll be having more play time with Nuno this season especially if Kane eventually leaves the team within a few weeks from now.
It was indeed a war at Spurs today. In the very early minutes of the game, Manchester City successfully choked Tottenham up with so much attacking forces but like that mistake they'll always make, their defend line pushed the attacks too far and that gave room for Tottenham to throw some tough and scary counters with produced a lot of threats on Manchester City.
If only Manchester City had successfully secured an early goal or perhaps scored the first goal before Tottenham, it would have been quite easy to work out more forceful attempts on Tottenham's defense but sorry for City play pattern, they had no potential striker in the match and that really cost them so much.
City was lucky last season to have gone as far as winning the league without a potential striker for a very long run but as it seems this season, it might be so difficult for them to claim to many wins without signing a striker before the transfer window closes.
Having Sterling, Mahrez, Grealish, and Gundogan without a potential striker is really something to be addressed as a problem and not just a problem but a big one. There players mentioned and many more are players City has that can always drive into the opponent's box successfully but don't fine it easily most of the time to deliver a good finish.
Only if Manchester City could acquire a striker as it is now like they use to have with Aguero, it would really do the team a great good. They played well today against Tottenham and they actually deserved at leat a draw but Tottenham played a defensive game that requires a true striker to break.
Tottenham has the 3 points and it's not even a thing against Manchester City yet, City can always bounce back with some heavy wins but on the other hand, it's a huge achievement for Tottenham especially Nuno and it's not really a big deal for Nuno because he confidently took down Manchester City even while he was at Wolverhampton.
What do you think about City owning the title this season?
I know it's too early to decided or contemplate on which or whose team would win the title but I am trying to just place a view on EPL teams and their current depths, what team do you personally think would or could easily make it out with the title this season?
Personally, I would say Chelsea and Manchester United look like the beasts to be watched this season. The two teams now have some sort of team depth and quality that's good enough to challenge and that makes me feel either of them could claim the title this season.
