Litecoin
Litecoin is a solid choice for an investment, with awesome features such as atomic swaps, integration with the lightning network, further adoption by merchants makes Litecoin a solid choice for a long term investment. With the founder Charlie Lee now with his full time focus on the project looks like only good fortune can come for Litecoin.
Ethereum
All though Ethereum is receiving a bad reputation as of recently for its inability to scale, the upcoming lightning-network clone Raiden network and the Metropolis update will go a long way to making the currently #1 smart contract platform more scalable. With further development by companies in the Ethereum Enterprise Alliance and open source community Ethereum is surely a platform to stay. Ethereum is certainly an excellent choice for a long term investment.
Neo (previously known as Antshares)
Neo will also be a solid investment. Right now with it only being on 5 exchanges, with its upcoming debut on the new Binance trading platform and rebranding as well as subsequent marketing campaign make it a solid prospect as well. As further development is completed for Neo, it will increase its reputation in the space. What makes Neo compelling is its approach to scalability to an Ethereum-like platform. Neo implements sharding and concurrency as well as delegated Byzantine Fault Tolerance (dBFT) to achieve a great deal of scalability. With excellent partnerships with Microsoft and Alibaba as well as several established Chinese and international industries make it a solid choice. Neo also has a partnership with the Wings platform.
Conclusion
These are my current investment prospects for 2017-2018. It is also worth noting that if Bitcoin can get past its mid-term issues with segregated witness and hard fork arguments it will most likely see great support as well long term.
