A clip of the final days of Adolph Hitler and the Third Reich from the biography series produced by Metromedia Producer Corporation and narrated by Mike Wallace.
Adolph Hitler moved to his underground bunker (the Führerbunker) near the Chancellery in Berlin when both the western allies and the Soviets closed in on Berlin on January 16, 1945. He would stay there until the end, except for the day of his 56th birthday on April 20, 1945, while Berlin was bombarded by Soviet artillery and attacked by the Red Army during the battle of Berlin, when he went to the ruins of the Reich Chancellery to award the Iron Cross to his Hitler youth.
One week before his death, Eva Braun joined him in the Führerbunker. On the night of April 28, Hitler and Braun were married within the Bunker. After 40 hours, on April 30, 1945, the couple committed suicide.
