Years ago while camping we encountered a rainbow that seemed to be touching down on the other side of a field we were in. Because of refraction as we approached its touch down point it simply moved further away. That is the true trick that protects those pots of gold. We had one of our companions continue on with our directions until from our perspective they were standing in it. To them, of course, it was further on. Very magical things indeed!
