Today I want to show you this illustration I made of the Flame imp card from

Checking the "inspiration" tab of Jen's page, a model who uploads for free several sets of photos for sketchers to practice! I saw this one that I found fascinating! And it provoked me to try it. I liked the idea of a character covered in shadows, looking a bit intimidating, so I tried to replicate it, with Flame Imp, that before reviewing the cards, I remember it because it looked like a gremlin xD, so it was already scary u,u
I've been using a program called PureRef which I highly recommend, as it helps organize a lot of references in one place, so you can look at them and have them available in one space!!! You should try it too!
隆Revisando la pesta帽a de "inspiraci贸n", de la p谩gina de Jen, una modelo que sube gratis varios sets de fotos para que dibujantes podamos practicar! 隆Vi esta que me resulto superinteresante! Y me provoco intentarla. Me gusto la idea de un personaje cubierto en sombras, luciendo un poco intimidante, as铆 que trat茅 de replicarlo, con Flame Imp, que antes revisando las cartas, lo recuerdo porque me parec铆a un Gremlins xD as铆 que ya de por s铆 me daba algo de miedo u,u
隆He estado usando un programa llamado PureRef el cual recomiendo much铆simo, ya que ayuda a organizar un mont贸n de referencias en un solo lugar para poder observarlas y tenerlas disponibles en un mismo espacio!, deber铆as probarla tambi茅n!
Here is the process of how I did the sketch. Since lately I'm trying to define edges with the shadows, I use the sketch as a guide, and I don't make a line art as such, and in the process you'll see that I also drew the wings, but eventually I forgot them when shading xD
The shading and the base drawing were both done in Ibis Paint!
Ac谩 te dejo el proceso de como hice el boceto. Puesto que 煤ltimamente estoy tratando de definir bordes con las sombras, uso el boceto como gu铆a, y no hago un line art como tal, y en el proceso ver谩n que tambi茅n dibuje las alas, pero eventualmente las olvide al momento de sombrear xD
隆El sombreado y el dibujo base los hice los dos en Ibis Paint!
At the time of shading I had a layer with the body of the character in red and white to have an idea of how dark the shadows would be, once the color was applied, I made the shadows in a multiply layer, and some lights in a layer with the overlay mode.
A la hora de sombrear ten铆a una capa con el cuerpo del personaje en rojo y en blanco para tener una idea de que tan oscuras quedar铆an las sombras, una vez aplicado el color, elabore las sombras en una capa multiplicar, y un poco de luces en una capa con el modo superponer.
When exporting the layers to Photoshop I inked the shadows to give more color to the illustration, you can see that the shadow is a shade greener.
I could have made the shadow green from the beginning, but I like to use black because the difference in values is more obvious!
Al exportar las capas a Photoshop entinte las sombras para darle m谩s color a la ilustraci贸n, puedes ver que la sombra quedo de un matiz m谩s verde.隆Podr铆a haber hecho la sombra en verde desde un principio, pero me gusta usar el negro porque es m谩s obvia la diferencia de valores!
Already in Photoshop, having the shadows and lights, I composed the background and used a vivid color palette to generate the body of the illustration. Maybe the fact that I like very colorful things, prevented me from committing myself to a very "dark" style, but I really like the result, I think because I feel I gave it my touch while I was trying another style.
Ya en Photoshop, teniendo la sombras y las luces, compuse el fondo y us茅 una paleta de colores algo vivida para generar el cuerpo de la ilustraci贸n. Tal vez el hecho de que me gustan mucho las cosas coloridas, me impidi贸 comprometerme de lleno con un estilo muy "dark", pero la verdad me gusto el resultado, me parece porque siento que le di mi toque mientras probaba otro estilo.
The background I composed it with free elements that I've already collected from Freepik, I've even used in other illustrations, like the one of the meteors I used in my volleyball illustration!
