Steemit Introduction
Hello Everyone!
I was unsure as to how to start this post. (As I am unsure writing it now). Having the mindset that this post should be as direct and honest as I can be, I am still trying to keep some privacy, anonymity, and focus/emphasis on what I am writing. So here it goes:
My name is Alex and I wanted to keep this page/blog less about who/what I am labeled and more about what I think. My problem with the current social media platforms are based on that very idea. The problem being, that one’s entertainment and time spent on social media is purely fluff, insubstantial, unreliable, and mostly filler information. Even today, when I have to go on Facebook to check an event that I was invited to, I am reminded of walking through a yard full of quick sand. I’m trying to make it out without getting sucked in. Although, it seems, the more time i spend doing things on those platforms, the more I rely on them. To solve this, I could easily delete those accounts. On rare occasions however, they become useful tool to stay in contact with certain friends.
This became a problem for me for awhile. I became addicted to social media. I used it as a way of entertaining my boring day. With enough practice, I didn’t even realize why I got on social media in the first place. Once realized, my addiction had to go. It wasn’t as bad as gambling or drug addiction but it had to go. Autonomy is one of my highest cherished values. The freedom of choice is the only real freedom. Without being able to decide for oneself all other rights/values are compromised. Understandably, as to why I wound up here on steemit. -A platform built on freedom of choice, value decided upon by the community, and done in a decentralized way. Brilliant in my opinion.
So, once I heard about steemit, the idea itself restored some of my faith in social media. The autonomy was there for one to control their information (information they were already giving away). Then add extra financial incentives on top of that? Surprisingly, it wasn’t enough for me to join outright. I had to have more motivation.
Over the past 4 years I have heavily looked into and researched deeply as to how the world operates. I thought I went into the rabbit hole far enough after I learned about US foreign policy in university. To be brief, I learned that “America the beautiful” wasn’t so beautiful to the whole rest of the world. In other terms, there are reasons why the US keeps military bases in each and every country they can. I digress.
In order to prevent this from becoming too lengthy (that is my forte). I shall summarize my so called trip through the rabbit hole to where I currently reside, with key phrases. First one being: The federal reserve not being federal or a reserve. Then Ron Paul getting cheated out of the 2012 Republican primary was another one I saw better in hindsight (as to how the world really works). I then traveled by myself to Europe for a few weeks. (That alone will change your life). I matured a lot and so did my understanding of the collective consciousness we call reality. I appreciated my life more. I also continued to strive further into understanding it and everything else I was interested in.
Fast forward to now. A million more steps down the rabbit hole of life and I am still going strong. In fact, I question everything I have been taught, (everything). From what Earth is, to what the purpose of life is, and everything in between. I know one thing for sure, I don’t know anything at all. For some that is scary. For me it used to be. However, with the help from plant medicines (and entheogens in general), I have transformed my life into a positive outlook towards the ever far-reaching depths of this rabbit hole.
My quest for this page/blog is to be a positive outlook for truth. Although truth seeking can come across as disheartening, in a time where the truth sucks to hear, awareness is the key to freedom. Awareness is the definition of consciousness which is the definition of life. Therefore, knowledge is power and spreading knowledge is spreading power. In the age of information, researching, specifically finding where things come from, and the sources of all the information should be understood by everyone -who are taking that information as truth. If you think/know something to be true, but don’t know why, how, where it comes from, can you honestly claim to know it? To be clear, my meaning of knowledge here, is to say, to know something “in and out” or to “fully” know something. To know it without a doubt!
Besides trying to be as honest as possible, I would like to have no other expectations for this page. Being honesty is having integrity. integrity is the only thing you can trust on the internet. (i.e. reviews, comments, eBay, rating systems, etc.). Once again oversimplifying some of my values for sake of length.
To sum up, i hope this is enough personal information about me for those who are curious. I plan on being a strong/active community member. I would just like my attention and this page to be spent on what I know, think, appreciate, find interesting, etc. I am heavily looking forward to the community interactions to my postings and the discussion I hope they bring up. I firmly know that question everything is the only way to find the whole truth. Therefore, nothing on my page will be left off the table. That can’t be understated. For fear of being redundant, my purpose for this page has hopefully been accurately demonstrated and anyone who is uncertain will hopefully comment below. Feels great to finally make a post! If you are someone who hasn’t posted their “intro” (or any post) and have already thought about it but are unsure, maybe? I encourage you to go with your gut and to make an intro/post. I know I feel better already (even if no one reads this).
PS Sincere apologies for any grammar/spelling mistakes I might have missed.
AND the "nosound" comes from AIM username from back in the day. And let's just say it took me a minute to figure out mark down (still figuring it out). I am glad that I decided to finally start posting. So expect to see some more in the near future!
