As bad as some of that sentiment is in the States, when I talk to Brits, Aussies, and Europeans about guns most of them are not only pro-restriction they tend to favor outright disarmament and are totally baffled by my opinion on the issue. Even the ones who were former military tend towards a restrictive stance for the average citizen. Nice people, but very nanny-statist mindsets.

Mongolians on the other hand, while not seeing gun ownership as an inalienable right like we Americans do, tend to be a lot more free-thinking and pragmatic. Not necessarily out of defined libertarian ideals, but I think they just don't like being told they can't do something. Handgun ownership is restricted here, but you can legally buy a semi-auto AK rifle just like you can in the States and it's no big thing. Hope it stays that way.
