Yeah, as much as I liked Red Dwarf, the older Doctor Who, and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy TV miniseries, the special effects always seemed to be at least 10 years behind what you'd see on American TV. Of course, they tended to more than make up for it with the writing, which admittedly is an area where some American TV shows tended to fall short. Quantum Leap was one of those exceptions that proved the rule, which is why it ended up being such a cult TV hit.
