TBH, here in Mongolia I think the government losing control of the pandemic situation has been the biggest contributor to normalizing peoples' perception of the risk & threat posed by the virus. Loads of people, both vaccinated & not, have already got over it and are just largely going about their lives. We know it's a problem, especially for certain segments of the population, but it's to the point where most just acknowledge it's an event to be endured (and mitigated when possible) rather than something to be solved. I wouldn't say it's as normal as I like (most people still are wearing masks even when outside 🙄), but it's a far cry better than in many parts of the US.

Being in a place with a weak state and without overly-centralized news media turns out to be quite the advantage... 😎
