That's the kind of sensible approach I wish most people would take. If I'm at a store, I see no issue with someone not wearing a mask, provided they're not violating others' personal space or otherwise being an obnoxious ass-hat with their hygiene. Masks are just one of many precautions, and I think people have the right to pick & choose which make sense for them throughout their day.

Personally? I think the reason many have latched so strongly to masks is that they live life with too much fear and without sufficient purpose/meaning. The masks for them are a way to fill that void and be part of something larger than themselves. And like many who are 'newly converted' to a movement or religion they often acquire a certain... fanaticism.
