Yeah, the shutdown measures I've been hearing about in some areas seem excessive, arbitrary, and sometimes downright absurd. The pandemic is a serious thing, but the level of fear behind these measures seems to be far in excess of the actual threat. The thing is, I could cut the authorities a little slack at the outset when there were a lot more unknowns. But now? It's as though fear is being made into a virtue, and analytical risk management has been put by the wayside.

At any rate, if you have the chance you should take a drive up and around the Olympic Peninsula. Beautiful region... it's no wonder my mom & stepdad decided to retire there.
