The second week in the United States was a whirlwind—with little time to rest, the computers never shut down, and with every melody they played, it seemed like that third song was about to be finished. Richard wrote lyrics nonstop, while Lucas experimented with new sounds, mixing guitars with synthesizers. Meanwhile, Michelle was building beats, and Daniel listened intently to every detail, striving to ensure that every second conveyed something special. He said aloud, “I want people to remember this song for many years to come.”
From that moment on, they stopped thinking about numbers and started thinking about emotions, and that’s when everything began to fall into place. Every verse sounded perfect, and Michelle added, “Now this really sounds like Banda 17.” They all looked at each other, but even as they neared completion, they’d always find a small detail to improve—like a word or an effect—and that’s why they never finished the song, even as the Apple Music event drew ever closer.
Finally, the day of the event arrived, and the song wasn’t ready, which left everyone feeling frustrated. Richard slowly closed his notebook, Lucas took a deep breath, and Daniel shook his head and added, “Throughout this process, we’ve learned that the best songs take time, and we’re not going to rush something that could make history for us.” Those words restored a sense of calm to the group.
When they arrived at the venue and crossed the threshold, they felt as if they were living a great dream. Everything was very modern—the music, the artists, the producers, and the songwriters—and every second there was wonderful. Banda 17 also took the opportunity to attend talks and chat with important figures in the music industry, so every greeting felt like a door was opening. At that moment, an American producer approached them and said, “Your songs have personality.”
The event continued, and Banda 17 kept chatting; they also managed to exchange contact information, and best of all, they received an invitation to visit recording studios in different cities. When the event ended, the four of them were surprised, and Richard remarked, “Today I realized that this trip was never just about a third song—it was to prove that we belong here.” The four looked at each other, and even though the third song wasn’t there, that was the beginning of a new chapter that promised to take Banda 17 much further than they had ever imagined.
