I like how the consumer can pay, but indirectly. They stake the tokens, they vote, and at the end of the day they've achieved their goal of supporting their favorites, plus they still have their money. This business model suits the current flow of creation and consumption online. Consumers don't wait a year for the next music album, for instance, then buy it all in one shot. They consume bits over extended periods of time. The steady flow of content requires a steady flow of income. That gradual pay in the form of an upvote is incredibly consumer friendly. Can donate/support on patreon for instance but there's no guarantee the consumer will get what they paid for. This way if the creator isn't pulling their weight, the consumer isn't out any money and can just shift the funds and attention over to someone else or raise their finger and get a refund. A lot of people do spend money on content nowadays, even when it's free. Watch a pewdiepie stream. People spend five bucks or whatever just to say something in chat that vanishes within seconds because everyone else is doing the same thing. There's a lot of money exchanging hands these days between creators and consumers. It's a big pile. I've been staring at for years wanting it to come our way.
