I'm retired. Working for advertisers wouldn't bring me out of retirement. It slams the door in my face.

I was able to craft posts that received both the highest payout and most commented on "awards", often enough. The actual views were up there, for hive standards, but realistically, low. Content creators outnumber content consumers here. That's what leads to low views overall, everywhere here.

The pay per view, is peanuts. That model requires millions of consumers.

Consumers online these days support independent creators directly. The platforms, acting like a middleman, takes a cut.

Utilizing the reward pool as a tool, this platform would pay those supportive consumers. No middleman. Personally, I'd rather have my consumer base (sometimes known as a community) supporting me directly like that, while accepting their share of the pie in the form of a tangible perk that comes standard. As they grow, I grow. I can sell, they can buy. I should easily be outnumbered. And with money in my pocket I'm able to put on a better show.

Then once that consumer base swells globally here, because others, then sure, throw in some ads and I'd take the largest share of that too. Then after a week they decide to cut me off because I'm spending most of my time mocking them in my content because I think it's funny, I won't care.

Depend on advertisers first, they pretty much own you.

The content is the product. Not attracting buyers to support it is the same as refusing to sell our products.

I always had this idea in my head, for ten years here, as this glacier of inflation melts away. What if hundreds of millions of people were supporting millions of creators?

This place would look a lot different.

The products are garbage when the market pays peanuts, pushing customers out the door. I know people love their ad revenue models. You're not the first to bring something like this up.

There's a lot of moving parts here though. Creating products while neglecting the role of the consumer in my view, for a very long time, is throwing a wrench in the works.

Don't give up though. Keep caring. Since I'm retired, how I feel doesn't matter much. Mostly here to watch nowadays. Just a rare consumer offering one view at a time, and maybe some support.
