And so you know, I stumbled into your account after you had left a comment someplace else, which led me to this post and eventually everything else.

Downvotes exist here for loss prevention purposes mainly. Say you're running a business, and every time you open the cash register, money starts blowing out the door and into the street. As a business owner, you will do everything you can to prevent that from happening again. You invent a spring-loaded mechanism to pin the cash down so it can't blow away. Problem solved.

People on this platform do not want to see money blowing out the door, so at times they'll step in to prevent that from occurring.

People aren't even mad at you. They don't hate you. None of that. You're okay.
