❓Wonder where these interesting shaped mountains are?
✔️Welcome to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Australia!
✔️The Glass House Mountains are a set of 12 peaks/hills that have become a not to missed Sunshine Coast landmark!
✔️They truly have an unexpected shape and are surprising to see as they rise from a very flat land around.
✔️They are remnants of volcanic activity over 25 millions years ago! Molten lava formed column type shapes when contracted while cooling down.
✔️ We've climbed Mt NgunNgun, it's a "short" 30min steep hike to the top, but the views from there are just amazing...360! We did it during the day and took this photo from a lookout accessible from the road as we were leaving the area.
✔️They are magnificent at sunset and it is recommended to climb up there for the sunset...Don't forget your light for the way down!
✔️The Aboriginal story, says that the peaks represent a family where Mt Tibrogargan is the father, Mt Beerwah the mother and the other hills are their sons and daughters.
