In this video I will be going over the noxious fumes ruleset for the modern format, help you get in the right mindset to beat it and show you different cards to help you along the way. The rule set deals two poison damage to each monster on both teams so to win you basically just have to outlast your opponent.
How can I do that? You might ask. Well there’s a couple abilities you wanna make sure you use and certain card stats to look out for.
One of the more obvious stats that you wanna have on your monsters is a high health pool. This will allow you to tank the poison damage and hopefully outlive the enemy but if this isn’t your playstyle and you wanna do more than just try to survive then increased speed is for you. Being faster than your opponent will allow you to dish out early damage, increasing the chances of your opponent losing their monsters to the poison before you.
Next we will get into some abilities that will help you dominate noxious fumes, I’ll give a short explanation as to why they are useful, show you the cards that possess these abilities and what levels they gain them.
In most cases you can rely on a tank heal to keep your frontline monster healthy but in the noxious fumes ruleset all monsters take two damage from poison making most tank healers useless due to their low health pools. Instead use cards with self heal or high health pools to keep the back row monsters healthy long enough to deal some damage. Most level one self heal are pretty expensive but if you have a leveled summoner there are a few cheap options to choose from.
Taunting your enemy draws most all attacks to the one card with taunt. While the taunt monster is literally taking one for the team, the backline can damage the enemy lineup and then allow the poison to finish them off. Alternatively you can place more tanky monster just to outlast your enemy.
Cleanse but be careful with your cleanse monsters placement because they often have low health pools. Hide these types of monsters within the middle of your lineup to protect them from your opponent. If you can get the cleanse off on the right card it can be a huge gamechanger.
Scavengers feed off of the deaths of other monsters and in noxious fumes there can be a lot of deaths making it a good ability choice for the ruleset. Remember it's all about surviving longer!
The life leech ability allows the monster to gain health when damaging the opponent. This can help you survive the poison longer while also weakening the enemy lineup making them fall to poison that much faster. The death splinter has the most life leech cards in modern with life being a close second.
Resurrection destroys the poison. When a monster is resurrected they will return to life without the blight of poison. Just remember that when resurrected they will only have one health point but all of their armor so make sure to target armored monsters with resurrect.
Last but definitely not least is the Immunity ability. This one is a powerhouse in the noxious fumes ruleset because the monster with immunity ignores the poison like a beast. This makes it the best for the ruleset and there are cheap options for immunity cards on the market currently.
