I am really liking the new 25mm 5x macro lens, but it is a different beast. The depth of field is so shallow that you really can't tell what you are going to get out of the image until the stack has been processed. This particular stack took over 23 minutes to shoot, about another 20 minutes to import into lightroom, 25 minutes to export to Helicon Focus, and about another 5 minutes to create the stack. None of that time includes set-up or editing, that is just the waiting time. You definitely have to have the patience and a good vision of the end result to use a lens like this. I do enjoy the technical aspect that "ultra macro" brings and you can always get caught up on your favorite TV show while you wait for things. I am already thinking up the next project and can't wait to play some more this weekend.
I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you for taking the time to read it.
