My last several posts have been pictures and commentary from the A.A. retreat that I went on last weekend. You guys responded very kindly to me and supported me, even though the posts were not what I normally post about. I want to first say Thank You for that! You guys that follow and support me are so awesome, I don't even know how to express it,. You give me the Hope to help me push on when things don't seem to be going too well for me.
This post is going to be just a General post about what is going on in my life and how I am doing. I know this isn't a social media site to just post about your life everyday, good content is everything, but I think maybe there are some of you that care a little about what is going on with me, and maybe derive some sort of inspiration from my life and struggles. If nobody cares, I guess I will learn something from the comments and votes huh? Here goes...
My Mom and her health...
First, and most important, my Mom was put in the hospital right before I went up north. I had went to see her and she seemed to be doing O.K., just having some breathing issues. This was not totally surprising as she has been a smoker since, well forever. I texted her and asked if she was still in the hospital when I got home, but she didn't respond until Wednesday, when she said she was.
When I went up to see her she appeared to me as though she had lost 20 pounds, and was not doing well at all. She had just had a procedure to remove fluid from her lungs and was still groggy from the anesthesia. Even taking that into account, she seemed to be very incoherent and unaware of what was gong on. My Mom is only 63, but has spent many years laying in bed, smoking, and eating anything she wanted, she is not well.
Today she had a heart catheter done and they put a stent in. I spoke with the nurse and she said she is doing well, stable signs and all that. I will be going up to see her tomorrow.
Anyone that is a praying person, I would appreciate them for her and the rest of the family. My Mother and I did not speak for many years and only in the last year or so started talking again. I would like the chance to spend some time before she passes, but I also don't want her to suffer.
In the end, God's will be done.
School
My classes are going well, so far I have 4.0 in all of them, but they are starting to ramp up. Assignments are coming due, quizzes are being scheduled, and studying needs done. Part of the reason I am doing a catch up post instead of my regular "Life Story" chapter, or "Recovery Step" post is frankly, I don't have the time tonight, I have to do some studying.
In my video production class, we made a pinhole camera and next week we are going to take and develop our own pictures. Of course I am documenting it in photos so I can share it here, I thought maybe you would find it interesting. We shall see...
Drivers license hearing...
I went for my Drivers License appeal hearing about 2 weeks ago. They said it would take about 5 weeks to get my response.... Argh!
Why not buy a car anyway?
So the Ministry Director at the Transitional Housing program I work at agreed to Co-Sign for a personal loan for me so I can buy a car. Well kind of anyway. I actually already have the money from school. I am really just borrowing my own money, but I am making it look like I am making on time payments on this loan, solely to help build my credit. He Co-Signed for the loan, but I had to open a joint account and put my money in it. I don't blame him and he is helping me a lot.
My friend who is a certified Mechanic is going to help me car shop, I hope I can find a good one, dependable and good on gas. You know, for when I can drive again!
Work...
My work is frustrating at times. I have a few guys in the house that are not doing what they need to and are honestly being a drain on the residents that are. I cannot take it personally, but it is hard not too. I mean I was a pretty hot tempered guy for a long time, and it is hard for me to just let things roll off my back... But I am trying.
Last, and most exciting....
Finally, I had some money left over and I have always told myself I was going to jump out of a plane someday. Well, I bought the ticket for next Sunday. Yes, I am jumping out of a plane next Sunday! Hopefully I will live! I am getting the Video, so of course you will see a post about it, assuming I make it through!
Thank you
