Welcome to my post once again, I'm Nitsu and I send a warm greeting to all the members and friends of the great Hive DIY community, as you may remember a few days ago I uploaded the first part of this post where I started to make a huge marcara for a client who asked me for it with little time, I had to 3D print his parts, putty, sand the entire surface and now paint it.

#1 - Little time for a big job [ENG-ESP]
In this post I am going to focus on all the painting and last details I did for the marcara. To glue the upper part of the head of the marcara and the jaw I used transparent epoxy glue, mix both components evenly and apply in the spaces of union is very important to place similar amounts when using the epoxy glue because if not the material takes even longer to set so that it is a strong union. From what I understand the glue finishes drying completely in about 24 hours.
En este post me voy a enforcar en todo lo que es pintura y últimos detalles que hice para la marcara. Para pegar la parte superior de la cabeza de la marcara y la mandíbula utilice pegamento epoxy trasparente, mescle ambos componentes de forma uniforme y aplique en los espacios de unión es muy importante colocar cantidades similares a la hora de usar el pegamento epoxy porque si no el material tarda aun más en fraguar para que quede una unión resistente. Por lo que tengo entendido el pegamento termina de secar completamente en unas 24hs.

After having finished sanding it, I created a small space on the balcony of my house to paint it, first of all it was necessary to remove all the dust that was left from sanding so with a damp cloth I cleaned all the marcara, this is necessary for the paint to adhere well to the surface, I let it dry for a while and took a primer, here in my country is known by that name is a kind of spray paint that can be white or gray that is thicker than a common paint, it serves to cover the small pores and make the following layers of paint adhere better.
Tras haberla termina de lijar cree un pequeño espacio en el balcón de mi casa para pintarla antes que nada era necesario retirar todo el polvo que quedo de lijar así que con un trapo humero fui limpiando toda la marcara, esto es necesario para que la pintura se adhiera bien a la superficie, deje que se secara un rato y tome un primer, aquí en mi país se conoce con ese nombre es una especie de pintura en aerosol que puede ser blanca o gris que es más espesa que una pintura común, sirve ara recubrir los pequeños poros y lograr que las siguientes capas de pintura se adhieran mejor.

It is super necessary to go receiving little by little making fast and long passes either horizontally or vertically on the pieces in this way we avoid wasting paint and generate drops that could ruin our piece. In the case that drops are generated try to remove them as quickly as possible with newspaper or a cloth, do not do it with a napkin because it is likely that this is stuck and the problem is even greater. Between coats they recommend to wait 1 hour to dry, but as I am an anxious person and had little time for the delivery I opened all the balcony taking advantage of the good air flow and was placing layers of paint about 20 minutes approximately.
Es super necesario ir recibiendo de a poco haciendo pasadas rápidas y largas ya sean horizontales o verticales en las piezas de esta forma evitamos malgastar pintura y generar gotas que podrían arruinar nuestra pieza. Llegado el caso de que se te generen gotas intenta retirarlas lo más rápido posible con papel de diario o alguna tela, no lo hagas con una servilleta porque lo mas probable es que esta quede pegada y el problema sea aún mayor. Entre capa y capa recomiendan dejar esperar 1 hora de secado, pero como yo soy un ansioso y contaba con poco tiempo para la entrega abrí todo el balcón aprovechando la buena corriente de aire e iba colocando capas de pintura cara 20 minutos aproximadamente.
I was verifying that all the nooks and crannies were well covered with paint, after about 5 coats I was satisfied and let the mask dry for a whole day. Once it dried again I observed the whole piece to realize that the points of union that I had not been neat, so I took the coarse sandpaper again to even out these areas, once I was satisfied I returned to clean this part of the surface and give another layer to coat after drying the finish was adequate and I was very pleased because the entire surface of the mask had been smooth and homogeneous.
Fui verificando que todos los recovecos quedaran bien cubiertos con pintura, tras unas 5 capas quede conforme y deje todo un día que la mascara secara. Una vez se seco nuevamente observe toda la pieza para darme cuenta que los puntos de unión que peque no habían quedado prolijos, se notaban así que volvía a tomar la lija gruesa para emparejar estas zonas, una vez me quede conforme volví a limpiar esta parte de la superficie y a dar otra capa para recubrir tras secarse la terminación era la adecuada y estaba muy conforme debido a que toda la superficie de las mascara había quedado lisa y homogénea.

Once this arrangement was dry I started to apply layers of white paint, actually the original mask has a white bone tone, but I preferred to apply one layer so I wouldn't have to use so much acrylic to cover the whole surface. I waited for this coat to dry and went to my room to continue painting. In my room I have a small space but good lighting and I could use the PC screen to have a reference image when painting.
Una vez se secó este arreglo empecé a dar capas con pintura blanca, en si la máscara original tiene una tonalidad de hueso blanco, pero preferí dar una capa para no tener que usar tanto acrílico al recubrir toda la superficie. Esperé a que secara esta capa y fui a mi habitación para seguir pintando. En mi habitación cuenta con un espacio pequeño pero buena iluminación además podía usar la pantalla de la PC para tener una imagen de referencia a la hora de pintar.
I took some soft acrylic and applied some drops of gold to obtain a more ocher color and also that the gold color would highlight more the final piece. I made the mixture and started to paint with a brush covering everything. After several coats of paint and some problems with the proportions in the mixture of acrylics I finished painting the entire white surface so now it was time to start with the details in black; I grabbed some black acrylic and a sponge to blur and I applied little by little in all areas to delimit the spaces that had to be black and those that had to be white. At the beginning everything seemed very messy, but with patience and work I was improving the finish. After a few hours of painting I was happy with the result, I waited for it to dry and with another brush I varnished the entire mask to protect the paint, there were several coats of matte varnish to finish the job.
Tome acrílico blando y aplique algunas gotas de dorado para obtener un color más ocre además que el color dorado al tener partículas resaltaría mas la pieza final. Hice la mescla y empecé a pintar con un pincel recubriendo todo. Tras varias capas de pintura y algunos problemas con las proporciones en la mezcla de los acrílicos terminé de pintar toda la superficie blanca así que ahora tocaba empezar con los detalles en negro; agarre acrílico negro y una esponja para difuminar y fui aplicando de a poco por todas las zonas para ir delimitando los espacios que tenían que quedar negro y los que tenían que quedar blancos. Al comienzo todo parecía muy desprolijo, pero con paciencia y trabajo fui mejorando el acabado. Tras unas horas de pintura quede contento con el resultado, espere a que secara y con otro pincel barnice toda la máscara para proteger la pintura, fueron varias capas de barniz mate para terminar el trabajo
Now came the final part which I had not thought so much, I had to adjust the jaw to the other part of the mark and this had to have movement and at the same time I had to think about the adjustment system for the head. The original modeling recommended a very basic adjustment which did not seem safe enough so I resorted to Google to see other systems of more professional masks and I opted for this triple system. It consisted of a central triangular piece that by means of adjustments and elastic straps kept the mask in place. I modeled the pieces and did the test and it worked perfectly.
Ahora venia la parte final la cual no había pensado tanto, tenia que ajustar la mandíbula a la otra parte de la marca y esta tenia que tener movimiento a su vez debía pensar el sistema de ajuste para la cabeza. El modelado original recomendaba un ajuste muy básico el cual no me parecía lo suficientemente seguro así que recurrí a Google para ver otros sistemas de mascaras mas profesionales y me decanté por este sistema triple. Que consistía en una pieza central triangular que por medio de ajustes y tiras elásticas mantenía la mascara en su lugar. Modelé las piezas hice la prueba y funcionaba perfectamente.
It was also necessary that I added these printed shades for the eyes, this way, the person wearing the mask could see out, but others could not see his eyes generating an even greater realism. I printed these flat pieces and then with heat I molded them to the mask to glue them with epoxy glue.
También fue necesario que agregara estas mayas impresas para los ojos, de esta forma, la persona que usara la máscara podría ver hacia afuera, pero los demás no podrían ver sus ojos generando un realismo aun mayor. Imprimí estas piezas planas y luego con calor las fui amoldando a la mascara para pegarlas con pegamento epoxy.

By this point I had everything ready, the order was finished about 4 days in advance, perfect to wait for it to dry well, but when I met with my client I recommended him to leave it in an open place to let the paint smell go away because it would not be pleasant to be at the party with a closed mask smelling of fresh paint. He was very happy with the result and told me that maybe in a while some of his friends would ask me for this mask, that was a great novelty because on the one hand it would be more work for me but on the other hand it is an exhausting job that requires a lot of time, the good thing is that I already have experience and a method to solve anything that comes my way.
Ya para este punto tenia todo listo, el pedido lo termine con unos 4 días de anticipación perfecto para esperar que secara bien igual cuando me encontré con mi cliente le recomendé que dejara la marcará en un lugar abierto para que se le fuera el olor a pintura ya que no seria nada agradable estar en la fiesta con una mascara cerrada oliendo a pintura fresca. El se quedo muy contento con el resultado y me dijo que tal vez dentro de un tiempo alguno de sus amigos me pidiera esta mascara, eso fue una gran novedad ya que por un lado sería más trabajo para mí pero por otro es un trabajo agotador que requiere mucho tiempo lo bueno es que ya tengo experiencia un método para resolver cualquier cosa que se me presente.
