Who hasn't had the experience of a date with someone you've never seen, what many call a "blind date" (I'd say more like a "blind lottery"). We all have those moments when we say "I'm ready", especially when we come from breaking up with a previous relationship so we feel that the period of "mourning" should end, so we accept the suggestions that fate offers us, or rather our friends.
I especially remember a somewhat opaque period of my sentimental life, all my friends had boyfriends and I was the only one who remained alone, so I decided to accept a date with a guy I had never seen but he was the best friend of the boyfriend of a friend from work. At first I didn't want to accept but between her insistence and my desire to get out of the work-home-work routine, I let myself be convinced and accepted the proposal to go out with the stranger.
I remember that night I was very anxious, I don't know why I felt so excited, I guess it must be because I will finally get out of the routine to have fun again, and who knows if I will fall in love. My friend never told me what the gentleman in question looked like, only that his name is Miguel but they call him "Micky". I admit it, I was already curious, plus this was something I needed to do to get back in the game and try my hand at seduction.
An hour to the appointment and I still wasn't totally ready. I had to get waxed because, you know, it's never good to be seen with hair in certain key areas, especially if the date is successful and we move on to the intimacy part, I would be too embarrassed to let myself be seen in my "natural" state no, no, no, no. On top of that I never know what dress to wear. At that time I thought: "If I wear a black dress, I will think I am very formal (not to say boring), but if I wear this sexy red miniskirt, I will think I am a prostitute looking for something more, well, if everything goes well maybe...".
By the way, that day Cristal, the only person in the world I trust with my hair, did a spectacular hairstyle just for me, I've always loved what her prodigious hands do, that day she really showed me off, it was definitely worth every penny I invested in my look. Usually, modesty aside, I have always felt beautiful but that day I felt divine and ready for action. Just a little perfume and makeup touch up and I was totally ready.
When my friend, her boyfriend and "Micky" arrived at my house I was ready to go out, but I preferred to make them wait in the car a little longer. The night is young, and from what my friend texted me the guy is cute, so all that's left is to have fun.
When I got home only one word was going around in my mind to describe that date: shit! The guy was not like I thought, while appearances never mattered to me physically he was not as he had been described to me, although that was not the most shocking detail but his terrible bad breath. Ok, I could tolerate the ungracefulness of his face, that he stained my dress with mustard, that he made me pay for dinner and borrow money for him to go home, not to mention the fact that he was flirting with the waitress, but objectively speaking the worst thing that stupid guy did was that he didn't even say a compliment to me. That night I vowed to myself to never agree to go out with unknown men again, damn blind date.
