The world changes dizzyingly, one day you dream of studying a profession that allows you to grow socially and financially: law, medicine, architecture or engineering; the next you realize that it is not easy to achieve these goals considering the fact that for this purpose it is necessary to invest time and money in your own training in some university, which implies having money and family support to achieve the prized diploma.

I remember that I was once told: 'college is not for everyone', it is likely, statistics and reality indicate that at this part of the educational scale the income is not universal, in fact it seems more of a privilege than a right, although the purpose of this publication is not to discuss whether university education should be universal or not, here what I want to note is that this process clearly selective, no longer represents the only way to get established in a well paid profession, something that in certain countries like those in Latin America rather than a help to get extra income is a necessity of life.

With the emergence of the internet and social networks, opportunities to generate extra income skyrocketed as a function of participating in these spaces on the web as 'content creators', a function on the web that became very popular on Youtube given the fiat money income that some users get for the videos they share on that platform. Subsequently Instagram and now TikTok made the creation of content to cross the plane of the function of a web, ceasing to be a hobby of a community to be placed in the professional line, in this way the monetization on the web establishes a space to integrate a new labor mass with exclusive dedication.

Perhaps there are universities that currently offer the career of 'Creator of content in social networks', however I would dare to say that 99% of people who are dedicated to this new profession have never gone through a classroom to receive a diploma that certifies you as a specialist in this area. But it is important to note that despite the popularity of this work in social networks, there is a big difference between the monetization of content on centralized websites and those that are not.

In centralized social networks such as Youtube, Instagram or Tik Tok, the platform itself draws the line of rewards for those who use its platform according to its usage policies, which usually reward content that meets certain criteria that they force to follow or punish by applying censorship or 'demonetization' of the account those works that do not follow the patterns of established thinking. On the other hand, there are few who really earn a large income in these spaces, since most of the payments go to the most popular creators, while the rest of the universe simply follows, comments or expresses its taste with a 'like', without receiving anything in return.

With the arrival of Dapps and decentralized social networks such as Steemit and then Hive Blog, where the public has the opportunity to monetize the content they create by receiving as payment for their work a compensation in cryptocurrencies or tokens, the opportunities to generate income multiply since you not only get rewards for publishing but also for curating or commenting, but the most important thing in these spaces is the total freedom of uncensored creation with which users expose their ideas.

Obviously to generate income in these spaces you have to take your work very seriously, among other things because the community itself is usually generous with high quality publications and at the same time treat with indifference those that do not enjoy the appreciation of the voters. Voting is usually the main tool for receiving or awarding tokens in these decentralized spaces, a way of introducing democratic methods to the web now that it is often a scarce value in the real world.

The important thing about content monetization, especially in decentralized spaces is that it opens the door to all people in the world to participate in this type of websites regardless of age, nationality, gender, ideology or religion, here the important thing is to provide the user with new economic schemes just by using an internet connection and an account in any of these spaces. It is definitely not easy to engage in the creation to monetize content in a blockchain, however participating in this does not require great knowledge in the art of communication, be famous or invest significant monetary resources to earn income, your passion to tell a story, share a video or express ideas can change your life (like many here in Hive and its ecosystem), just be original, do it with quality and support other authors with your comments or votes.
