These are photos taken of a round, clear, quartz sphere the size of a tennis ball. It has a natural internal fracture on one side that is shallow. In taking these photos, I strayed away from the original intent and purpose of it completely, the moment my eye lighted on the “egg” shaped shadow cast by a completely round object. I was captivated. There’s something about egg shapes that always resonate with me and it’s not just my love of eating eggs either. 😆
The shape of the shadow is a result of the time of day and the angle of the sun. Due to the fracture inside one part of the sphere, I found that, in addition to this “inner glow” and dynamic form, a rainbow like colouration showed along with the shadow. I was fascinated by this whole experience. It is now a new series I began to explore within the last week. It was all totally by accident and circumstances of timing. I love it when that happens. It’s like this gift that pops out of nowhere completely unexpectedly and takes your breath away!
