There are some places in this world, whenever you hear about them, they want to make you drop everything and travel the world — or, if not that, at least procrastinate for a while and scroll through distant places on Instagram. Such a place for me and for many others is the land of smiles, Thailand.
I first had the privilege to travel to Thailand in the 80s, as a child with my parents. My father used to be the typical backpacker and when I was born the whole family went on trips around Asia, very often for several months. The experiences I made during these travels have been life-shaping for me and especially the kindness of the Thai people, lead to a profound respect for Thai culture and Thailand.
