In a small park on the way to the forest, wagtails are often found. There are not many of them. But they apparently live nearby, so you can often see them there. They usually run along the paths of the park. Apparently they are waiting for people passing by to give them food.
People really like these funny birds. They wag their tails in a very funny way when they run along the path, shaking their feet. Children are just delighted with them and try to play with them.
It is interesting that when children run after them, the wagtails do not fly away, but only run away from the children at a safe distance. So this play of children with birds is constantly going on. Children run up, and wagtails run away from them.
However, wagtails do not fly away from children. They apparently also like to play catch-up with the children. Adults always try, at least not a lot, to feed these funny birds.
I noticed that mostly wagtails often appear in the same places when they come to us in the spring. On one occasion, for several years in a row, I saw two wagtails in the same place every spring. They flew in and walked along the river bank. There lived ducks, which were constantly fed and the wagtails used this to eat the food that was given to the ducks.
So these birds lived together. Apparently they liked this place.
Here the wagtail runs like an athlete on a treadmill.
