Yesterday I saw a magpie flying. I noticed that she sat on a tree not far from me. I decided to take a look. what is she doing there. Fortunately, there were many trees around and one could approach her imperceptibly. As I approached, I saw that the magpie was looking around. Not seeing that there was no danger, she sat down more comfortably on a branch. Then she began to carefully examine the branch on which she was sitting. The branch was old, already withered. The skin on the branch was wrinkled and rotted in places.

t is surprising that the branch did not break under the weight of a magpie. Apparently the magpie was interested in something on this thread.
Having examined the branch, the magpie began to hammer it with its beak. She was probably hungry and looking for food. Various insects and small worms are always found on such branches.

Then the magpie began to peel off the peel from the tree branch with its beak. Perhaps she was hoping to find food under the skin.
She did it pretty quickly. Apparently she was not mistaken there really were insects. She could be seen pecking something on a branch.

It was good that it was quite warm outside and the peel on the tree did not freeze and was easily removed by the magpie. There was enough food and forty did not particularly pay attention to the sides. I managed to get closer to her. I knew that magpies are very shy and decided not to come closer. I decided to take a longer look at what this magpie will do next.

It was seen how the old peel was falling from the branch and that the magpie was happy to eat the found insects. Apparently she attacked a good place where there were a lot of all kinds of animals. She sometimes did not come off the branch until she had eaten everything.

Having peeled off the peel in one place of the term, she moved on and continued her work. She was not frightened by anyone, so she did it for a long time. I watched her constantly. For the first time I saw that magpies peel off the skin from old dried branches and I was curious.
Finally the forty ate. She still sat on the branch for a little while and then flew on her bird business.
