I work in a second hand bookshop and when there's no-one in the shop, I like to take a walk and visit the local charity shop which also doubles as a cat shelter. People donate anything and everything to charity and it all makes its way to shops like this one, to be sold. The owner has a certain sense of humour, as do her staff and they price anything and everything and make eye-catching displays. Here is a selection of weird and wonderful objects, from vintage to kitsch.

Knitted pillows, an art deco teapot, a child's toy car and a painted portrait from 1965

Blinged-up shoes, knitted caps, a pissed-off crab in a football helmet and who knows what the plastic fish is for: a toast rack perhaps?

One of the many cats that live on the premises. Sometimes they also manage to find new homes.

My favourite: at the door as you enter, free government-issue condoms. Someone embroidered this funky sign. Except that they didn't do any layout and planning before they started stitching. So part pf the 'm' is missing.

Even better, someone at the government procurement centre thought that supplying banana-scented condoms would somehow be a good idea....
