When my oldest nephew turned 10 years old we finally talked his mom into letting him go shooting with us.
My dad, brother, nephew, roommate and myself loaded up the truck and headed out to the hills.
We gave him the full safety rundown and taught him how to load, lock, clear and fire my ruger 10/22 and my roommates ruger mkIII .22lr pistol, we started him off small.
He loved it, had a blast, and not to bad a shot for his first time ever. We also taught him about cleaning up after ourselves, no targets, no trash and no brass left behind.
He has since graduated up to shooting one of my AR's and he isn't bad either. now that he lives in Kentucky they'll have even more opportunity to practice.
