Moses was born to the Egyptians until he did not like the way they treated the people under them.
He deserted into the wilderness, only to be brought back by God to warn the Egyptians.
The books say to free the Israelite's but what really happened is we told the invaders to fuck off.
We let them interpret the magic we do in the way they see fit -- we try to stay out.
