Pi is the numerical value of the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter (approx 3.14159).
Every household had to have 3 altars: a circle, a semi-circle & a square, to perform rituals.
The constraint was that all the three altars had to have the same area.
This led to the development of the concept of
Pi in ancient India.
