No, at this moment i wouldn't buy a smart watch for myself and i love gadgets.

The reason is that they don't add much value because you can't do anything with a smartwatch that a smartphone can't do. Except maybe for the heart monitor function (which most people don't use anyway) but some smartphones also have that functionality.

Most people i know that have a smartwatch only use it to go jogging. It has a gps, heart rate monitor and can count your steps.

Because of their small size smart watches are plagued with 3 problems:

  • The screen is very small so less functionality than a smartphone.
  • Because of the small size they can't fit a big processor and much ram which makes it kind of slow and not suitable for big applications.
  • It doesn't fit a huge battery so you have to charge it often.

Conclusion: a smartwatch can be handy to monitor your health or as backup device but it doesn't replace a smartphone so it's not something necessary to own.
