What you could do is lend out your cryptocurrencies to short sellers. It doesn't cost you money but you earn money instead. But it's only smart to do when you are bullish or hold it anyway. Otherwise you are still screwed with the decline in price.

I know you can do this on Poloniex, i think Bitfinex also has an option to lend out your crypto.
