Because the future of work is not actually working. It's the ability to generate money.

There are so many tools out there to generate money that people can make their living from their ability to use them.

AI to generate content, video, art, solve problems ect...

So many ways to speed up the current process that change is inevitable.

It's not that long ago that people used to use horses for transport and other animals for day to day labor.

That changed fairly fast with cars and machinery and the technology revolution is going to change how the world operates in the same type of seismic shift.

If people cant find new ways to generate income then they risk being left behind in the new world. Their is always call for a certain amount of manual labor and while machines are cutting into that significantly it takes time to replace people in most industries.

AI is different as it can replace big numbers very fast.

Replace the jobs where you don't have many variations. A lot of jobs in the banking sector, accountancy, I.T are about inputting data and gathering information. AI will be able to do this faster, better and a lot cheaper in the near future.

That's a lot of jobs that could be at risk in the near future.
We've already seen the start of it in industries like art and movies where it used to take long periods of time to generate content. Now it can be done almost instantly with miniscule costs compared to paying for learned talent.

People are worried and rightly so.

When the world changes a lot of industries die off together. It's wasn't just horses that were replaced by cars but the knock on effect is important too. Blacksmiths, stables, horse breeders, horse fairs were all hit by the rise of the cars popularity.

But innovation breeds new industries. Instead of those built up around horse you had garages, mechanics, petrol stations, car lots, parking lots ect...

As much as people are worried the world always balances out in one way or another.

Change is scary and will hurt a lot of people but it breeds innovation. The people who can see this and change will become successful where as the ones who try to prevent progress will be left behind fighting a losing battle.

10 years ago the term influencer wasn't even a real thing but now it is what people aspire to become. Social media personalities. Working for themselves and selling their brand and their personalities.

Adapt or die as the old saying goes.
