I think that we need to be promoting the apps to consumers rather than hive.
Trying to explain hive to twitter users is useless as they don't need to know how it works. Instead d.buzz or leo need to be put in front of them as working apps that they can use seamlessly and attach a wallet for crypto rewards.

On the other hand there are a core group of people that would be interested in using hive to build or develop so it's worth having witnesses, devs and informed community members at conferences to attract devs to the chain.
