For anybody that has been in the crypto space for a few years it can seem as if an age has passed. I still remember my first tender reaches into crypto and the vastness of this new concept.
In those days it was still very underdeveloped and there were not many tools available to get involved or easy routes to even buy some crypto. That is why it can seem as if we have travelled a long way down the road while the reality is that we are only just getting started.
It has taken this year to show us the direction that we are even moving in with the likes of Elon Musk accepting bitcoin as an exchange of value for his products rather than a way to exchange of funds that we will see an accelerated adoption of crypto into retail. Where one goes, others follow.
That is why visa and paypal have been making announcements this week. They have been building to this point from a long way out but even they have only made their first reaches into this space. It took me almost two years to get a crypto debit card after many failed attempts through different companies. Some were pulled, some couldn't get banks to partner with and some just didn't work.
I finally got one through crypto.com last year which was issued by visa. Now we see a whole host of exchanges, companies and crypto's launching their own versions as it has become possible to create the right connections. One group led and now others will follow.
We have seen the same mentality with different currencies over the past few years as well. For various reason, very few have made it this far without failing or losing their community. For entrepreneurs it is very hard to break new ground as there are so many barriers to success. Some will fail for funding, development, leadership, mentality or were never planned to succeed at all.
There will be fortunes made and lost in crypto over the next decade but be careful which side you end up on. Right now we are seeing a fresh influx of wealth and development to the area so it is a great time to make your choices.
What projects have good leadership?
Have a solid concept?
A strong community?
Have staying power?
Which ones will be here in ten years time?
This last question is by far the most important for me as it is the key indicator to success. A project can have all of the other attributes and still fail for various reasons but if it is still there in ten years and developing then you should have built a lot of value over that time. Even if the price doesn't rise, you can grow your holdings and be successful from it.
For me I try not to target too many places. If I like a project and believe that it will still be going strong in ten years time then I will focus my energies into that area. If you spread yourself too thin it can be hard to give it the attention needed and to grow your holding.
I have picked my couple of areas that i think will stay the course and intent to keep going with them until that growth matches my plans.
##We are still very early to the game and there is a lot more to come over the next couple of years.
You will know what was successful by the time that all of your friends are involved. They project that can convince them to get involved in web3 is the project that will have huge success.
