We all grew up in different homes, had different upbringing and even have different life experiences. Life can be hard for you today and easier for you along the way. For someone, their life has been the same story for as long as they ca remember. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon and not everyone also has the opportunity to experience some of the things some of us get to enjoy on the daily basis.
Just last weekend, KFC Ghana decided to run a 15ghana cedis promotion and their chicken and fries and so many people were surprised that people came out in their numbers to purchase. At some centers, things got rowdy which led to some of the customers getting beaten with canes and some being drenched with water. A friend of mine expressed shock at that and honestly, i understood where this person was coming from. For this person, going to eat kfc was like an everyday thing but for the average Ghanaian, it’s a luxury. This should tell you how much people are going through just to out food in the table.
Our children sometimes unfortunately have to bear the wrath of our choices because as struggling parent wouldn’t be able to provide fully for his child. Most children from broken homes go wayward and even children from good homes can turn out to be the worst people you meet. How a child will turn up mostly depends on prayer. Their upbringing and other things play a role but honestly, you need to pray for guidance for your kids.
Because as much as adults commit crimes, some children commit crimes that even the worst of adult criminals don’t. I recently had a case where a 14 years old boy had his arm being cut with a cutlass by his friend over a minor issue. Thankfully, he didn’t loose the arm but most of the vessels were damaged. For a child who has committed such a crime, should he be tried as an adult or a child? Honestly, I think if a child is able to have the heart to try to chop off his friend’s arm, then his intention was to kill and he should be tried as an adult.
I sometimes find myself thinking if this is how we let psychos grow into our society because we let them off as kids. If they were kids, they wouldn’t have the heart and mind to commit such crimes and so, they should be tried accordingly. We wouldn’t want to be responsible for raising future criminals and warlords.
