Nahanni National Park Reserve
To many, Nahanni implies wild. Arranged in the southwestern NWT close to the Yukon fringe, this 30,000-sq-km stop grasps its namesake, the epic South Nahanni River. This untamed waterway tumbles more than 500km through the spiked Mackenzie Mountains. It's a fantasy goal for paddling and one of Canada's most stupendous spots.
Properly, the Nahanni is a Canadian Heritage stream, and the recreation center is an Unesco World Heritage site. In 2009 the government and Dehcho First Nations consented to an arrangement expanding the recreation center's size more than sixfold.
