I just hit my 400 followers mark and let me be honest...
When I first joined all I wanted was followers. I did not really know what Steemit was about, and was only thinking about the money. I saw all these people in the trending area with thousands of dollars on each post, and wanted that payout right NOW!
My journey to having a billion followers began.
First I started to over use my introduceyourself tag, then I stated commenting on all the whales feeds. My lowest of the low was when I started to hit up every new steemian with a cheesy tag line because I knew they would follow me.
Yes I gained a lot of followers, but were they engaged in my posts? Was I engaged in their posts? NO. I didn't even know who these people were. I did not take the time to find out who they were or even if we had anything in common. Plus when I did post no one even liked my posts. I stated to realize that I was going about this whole thing all wrong.
At about the month mark I decided to make a change. I was not going to do the things I had been doing to get followers. I stopped following people blindly, and started to only follow people I had formed some sort of relationship with(People that I had communicated with to be honest). Let me tell you I feel a whole lot better. I have only gotten about 20 followers since then but at least they are real followers. I also notice that they are the only ones that interact with my posts.
I think I have finally grown up and stopped being a newbie! Yay me! Now if i could just come up with some good posts...
