These labels were invented by Chris Messina, a Google employee, who proposed the first Twitter employees to adopt that symbol, then known as Libra, to create groups of related tweets. However, this initial goal of tag labels to make it easier to locate messages on the same topic has evolved into an instrument to exchange thoughts and ideas with people from anywhere.
