#steemigram Ryan Coogler, who directed the record-breaking “Black Panther” movie, is teaming up with LeBron James to produce the “Space Jam” sequel. The sequel follows the 1996 “Space Jam” starring Michael Jordan.
James’ production company shared the first photo of the new project today, which shows a caricature of a basketball locker room with the basketball star’s name above a locker. The film is said to tentatively start in 2019 during the NBA off-season.
This will be LeBron James’ first starring role as an actor after the NBA player had success as a supporting character in the 2015 movie “Trainwreck.”
James said in a statement:
“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie... I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams.”
