Guys I recently had the opportunity to acquire a laptop with the effort of me and my wife. You can read the corresponding post by clicking here. This is an Acer A515-43-R19L and comes from the factory with an AMD ryzen 3 3200 u processor, 4GB ddr4 RAM and a 128GB NVME solid disk. The impression I got is that they put the bare minimum stuff in it to make it work. It may also have been made for college students. But it really struck me that it was very much designed to be upgraded quite easily, and this is what I want to share with you today. Without further ado, here we go.

Muchachos hace poco tuve la oportunidad de adquirir una laptop con el esfuerzo mío y de mi esposa. Puedes leer el post correspondiente pinchando aquí. Esta es una Acer A515-43-R19L y viene de fábrica con un procesador AMD ryzen 3 3200 u, una memoria de 4 GB ddr4 de RAM y un disco sólido NVME de 128 GB. La impresión que me dio es que le pusieron las cosas mínimas para que trabajara. También puede que se haya fabricado para estudiantes de universidad. Pero me llamo mucho la atención que estaba muy diseñada para poder hacerle un upgrade bastante fácil, y esto es lo que quiero compartirles hoy. Sin más, allá vamos.
Why upgrade to a new laptop?
It all depends on the use we are going to give it. Normally, upgrades are for gaming, programming, editing photos or videos or simply because we want a laptop in optimal conditions so that it does not give us any problems with certain applications that require more resources and have to go out at that time to solve the problem. So I looked for a 512 GB NVME hard disk to leave it for the system and an 8 GB RAM to increase the speed a little more. I have to put when I solve another disk of 1 TB minimum, which can be SSD or HDD, since the manufacturer left the possibility of the two disks and another RAM memory of 8 GB to remove the 4 GB and leave it with 16 GB.
Porque hacerle un upgrade a una laptop nueva?
Todo depende del uso que vayamos a darle. Normalmente, los upgrade son para jugar, programar, editar fotos o videos o simplemente porque queremos una laptop en óptimas condiciones para que no nos dé ningún problema con ciertas aplicaciones que pidan más recursos y tener que salir a esa hora a resolver el problema. Así que busque un disco duro sólido NVME de 512 GB para dejarlo para el sistema y una memoria RAM de 8 GB para subirle un poquito más la velocidad. Me queda ponerle cuando resuelva otro disco de 1 TB mínimo, que puede ser SSD o HDD, ya que el fabricante dejo la posibilidad de los dos discos y otra memoria RAM de 8 GB para quitarle la de 4 GB y dejarla con 16 GB.
1- Remove all the screws from the back cover and lift the cover with some thin plastic, very slowly and without forcing it.
1- Retirarle todos los tornillos de la tapa trasera e ir levantando esta con algún plástico bien fino, muy lentamente y sin forzarla.
2- Locate the area of the parts to be replaced, in this case the RAM and the hard disk.
2- Localizar la zona de las partes que vamos a cambiar, en este caso la RAM y el disco duro.
Here we see that we have 2 RAM slots at a glance, as well as the hard disk. Fortunately, we will not have to keep disassembling to look for them and change them.
Acá vemos que tenemos 2 slots de RAM a simple vista, al igual que el del disco duro. Ya no tendremos que seguir desarmando para buscarlos y cambiarlos por suerte.
3- We put the RAM memory in the empty slot, and the new hard disk.
3- Ponemos la memoria RAM en el slot vacio, y el disco duro nuevo.
Once we have all this done we are ready to close the laptop. To verify that it accepts the parts we enter the setup, in this model it is with the F2 key. There we can verify that we have the 12 GB of RAM memory and the new 512 GB hard disk. We were ready to install the new operating system that I had previously downloaded from the official Microsoft website. The Windows 11.
Una vez tengamos todo esto hecho estamos listos para cerrar la laptop. Para comprobar que esta acepto las piezas entramos al setup, en este modelo es con la tecla F2. Allí podremos verificar que tenemos los 12 GB de memoria RAM y el nuevo disco duro de 512 GB. Ya estábamos listos para instalar el nuevo sistema operativo que previamente había descargado de la página web oficial de Microsoft. El Windows 11.
Conclusions
I think I have obtained a very good little machine, for my objective. Which is to create content for Hive, after these improvements it only remains to test it and see if it asks for more resources to continue improving it. That's all for today.
