A security researcher called Ross Bevington found that a computer can be hacked by an E-cigarette by fooling it to think that it was a keyboard.
If you don't know what an E-cigarette is, then here is a quick explanation. Electronic Cigarettes aka E-Cigarette are smoking devices powered by a battery. They are designed to look like a real cigarette. It creates an aerosol by heating a liquid. The user then inhales the aerosol. The liquid is made of nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerin, and flavorings.
The issue happens because most of these devices come with a rechargeable battery which can be used to plug into the USB port of the computer. It is better to disable data pins on the USB to avoid attacks
Bevington said to SkyNews: “He had modified the vape pen by simply adding a hardware chip which allowed the device to communicate with the laptop as if it were a keyboard or mouse – A pre-written script that was saved on the vape made Windows open up the Notepad application and typed “Do you even vape bro!!!!”
