Why do friendly reminders never seem very friendly?
Because if it were friendly, nobody would need to say so. "Friendly" is a warning label. It means "this is the second time I've asked, and there won't be a third."
It's the same trick as a "voluntary" contribution with a penalty for skipping it. Put a nice word in front of a demand and it's still a demand.
