Sunday, as I expected wasn't good for photo shooting birds. It wasn't rainy, but cold and windy. There were lots of birds but I was still looking for the gray or green woodpecker and I heard the green one, but could not see it.
There were many doves who together with the sparrows pecked seeds. Here is a couple of them. This is Eurasian collared dove.
Its name comes from the black and white line on the neck that looks like a collar. According to Wikipedia, the bird was first described and given its scientific name Streptopelia decaocto by the Hungarian naturalist Imre Frivaldszky in 1838 in Bulgaria.

They are rather common birds and they live throughout Europe and Asia. They also can be found in North America.
Interesting story I read how few birds escaped from a pet shop in Bahamas during burglary in the 70s. The pet shop owner released the rest of the birds and they made their way to Florida. Another flock of birds was set free in Guadeloupe when there was a thread of volcano erauption. It is believed that is how the doves were spread in North America.

Another interesting shot was the one I made with this crow, carrying a leaf in its beak. Unlike the other crows who were busy collecting muts, this one was looking for leaves. This is hooded crow, wide spread in Europe and in some parts of Asia.
And since I have no more decent photos from Sunday, I looked through my old ones to find some not beeing shown.

Crows are intelligent birds. Even though they don't look pretty, they can be good companions and can adapt and live quite well together with the humans.
And since I mentioned how some crows were busy collecting nuts here are two more shots from a nice sunny day.
