Some days ago I had a post about storks and how we may have seen the last of the flocks leaving. But they kept on coming from the North and moving forward. Sometimes we see single birds. It was late evening and it was very windy. The gusty wind cooled down the air. My hubby called me as he saw something big on the sky and it happened to be two storks who were struggling to flight against the wind.
Surprisingly they were flying back and made me wonder why they were alone and why not following the big flocks. It was hard to fly when the wind stopped them and they were struggling to move.
This gave me a chance to make many clicks and moreover the birds were so low basically at the level of our balcony.
Coming towards me, was spectacular and I wasn't sure if I would have a good shot, but my finger was glued on the shutter.
Cropped, but can't crop any further, the quality is not the best.
The stork was still fighting with the wind and his efforts were fruitless. The wind was really strong. The big bird seemed standing at one place.
On this next photo you can see how difficult it was for the stork.
The stork gave up in the end, lowered and disappeared behind the block across the street. Perhaps he landed on the roof of the houses behind the block. Hubby rushed outside to find out, but either he was late and the storked sneaked or the bird found way to escape without we noticed.
I have photos of both storks but since I concentrated mostly on one of them I lost the second one.
It was interesting experience and just think how difficult it is for the birds to ctoss continents in different weather conditions.
And that's all for now.
Happy birding!
