a fall

29101613_920459931446888_4004389276953312526_n.jpgwhen Narcolepsy struck

anxiety... confusion... fear...
slowly the edges of my vision blur
my aspiration-my identity- falls like a tear
my eyes slowly close as She begins to stir
...and the world twirls then fades to black...

When my Mistress awoke and claimed me as Her own, I thought my life was over.
Sleep took the life which had chosen me, the life I had planned, since before I could remember.
I changed. I had no choice. And so did my future.

Yet from the ashes of my devastated dreams I saw steadfast pillars of beauty emerging from the dust.
Sleep revealed the depth of my boyfriends love, the sincerity of my friendships and the parts of myself that I could trust.

She exchanged that which I had built up over time on my own, for that which was true.
Tragedy, trauma and trials. They challenge us but provide great opportunity too.
Now my life is different-stranger but better. And as a friend and servant of Sleep, now I also have become somebody new.
