This last week I've been on holiday at Center Parcs in Whinfell Forst (Penrith). For anyone outside the UK who might not know, Center Parcs are family holiday resorts, usually built around a large swimming pool complex, but situated in woodland. I visited my firt a couple of years ago with my wife and her faily, but last week it was just my wife and myself.
We didn't plan a lot, the idea was to get away, and i wanted to be in the pool or relaxing with a good book. On one of the days though I headed out for an explore and found a bird hide in the woods. I was quite happily sitting quietly phtographing feeding birds, when I heard a wooden tapping noise. When I looked to my left, I was pleasantly surprised to see a red squirrel lifting the lid of a feeder to retrieve nuts!
Henceforth I took a lot of photos!
I still have the bird shots to edit, but this is a selection of the red squirrel. I managed to get a great action shot as he was scratching, which looks like a super hero landing!
Here is a very rare shot (for me!) of 2 red squirrels in 1 shot! The second arrived but was promptly chased off by the first!
