Hello :)
I just felt like I needed to start this post with a Hello as I've not been on Hive for a few months now, largely as I'd mostly exhausted my images without duplicating too much.
Since I was last on here I've done a number of shoots whilst also juggling a few ongoing issues so haven't been shooting as regularly as I would have liked, but hopefully got some cool images to get the ball rolling again..
So this post is using images taken at a shoot I setup with a friend, and is Halloween themed if you hadn't alredy guessed. The following were taken in a woodland area near to where I live. Its been a while since I've done these gelled backlit images, so we kept it simple, nothing overly complicated, and we also had to consider the models who were getting a little cold so I didn't want us taking too long setting the shots up.
The first image has been photoshopped a little, just a touch, adding in pumpkins and a witches cauldron, but the initial image was shot using 2 Yongnuo flashes, one gelled orange and one blue on either side. It was a pretty straightforward setup, done as above for speed due to the models lack of clothing and getting a bit chilly!
The following images again are straightforward group shots taken in front of a childrens den, which in the dark of night easily passed as a witches house! Again back lit with 3 gelled flashes this time and smoke for atmosphere and a white light with softbox from the front.
As mentioned above these were pretty straightforward images, nothing too technical so we could keep things moving for time and warmth reasons, but it was definitely a fun shoot with models I have not worked with before, Charlie, Jacqui and Nikkita, but will look to shoot with these again some time.
What I loved too was that my friend that I shot with, Trevor, has some really nice expensive lights with gels, and he sacked them off to use my gels which were the bottom of plastic fabric conditioner bottles from Morrisons! We both felt that they gave a better colour when used with the flash guns :)
